July 4th Kids Parade

Join us in Historic Downtown Apex as we celebrate America's Birthday! Kids 12 & under may participate in Uncle Sam's Parade of Wheels down Salem Street. Decorate your bike, wagon, tricycle, or other non-motorized vehicle in patriotic colors to celebrate our nation's independence. The Parade starts at the corner of Salem & Chatham Streets at noon, so be sure to line up early to save your place. Festivities will end with the Apex Fire Department's Splash Down!  Please note:  Helmets are required for the Parade of Wheels.

Schedule of Events

The Rusty Bucket will be open from 9 am - 12 pm.

Downtown streets will be closed from 7am - 2pm.  Events are as follows:

  • 9:00 am: Flag Raising
  • 9:15 am: Activities begin (inflatables, giant slide, ice cream, karaoke contest, carnival games, climbing wall and more!)
  • 11:45 am: Parade of Wheels line-up
  • 11:50 am: Activities end
  • 12:00 pm: Uncle Sam's Parade of Wheels

Bring your friends for refreshments and drawings for prizes.   This is always a fun shopping night and is an annual tradition for many of our customers.

The Open House will continue throughout the weekend.

Apex Music Festival

8th annual music festival will be bigger and better than ever.  Come enjoy live music, street vendors, food trucks, beer and wine and an eclectic mix of shops and restaurants.  Three outdoor stages and one indoor theater will host a variety of acts from local, regional and national performers from many musical genres.  

Tickets can be purchased online at www.apexmusicfestival.com.  General admission tickets are $12.50 to gain access to the festival (across from Apex Police Department this year) to hear 19 bands and 8 hours of music and fun.

Homespun Holidays at The Rusty Bucket

Join us for our 15th annual Holiday Open House as we celebrate the kick off to the holiday season.  The Rusty Bucket will be CLOSED on Wednesday, October 31 and until 6:00 pm on November 1 to finish set up for this event.  We redo the entire shop, front to back, for the holidays.  

Thursday evening is your opportunity to have a first look at the new offerings and first shot at some of the one of a kind hand-mades we offer each year.

Peak City "Pig Fest" Competition

The Bone Suckin’ Sauce Peak City Pig Fest is a BBQ competition and street festival in downtown Apex, NC and includes a number of activities and events.  Hang out at the beer garden for a drink, listen to music, or watch various contests.  Visit the cook team area behind the Halle Center to watch the masters at work or eat competition BBQ.  Walk the streets of downtown to see the various vendors, watch pig races, or bounce around in the kids area.

Competition BBQ Sales

  • Saturday, 9am - 3pm, or while supplies last (Cook Team area) .  The Apex Sunrise Rotary Foundation will be selling BBQ cooked by various competition cook teams as a fundraiser

  • For $10, you will get a small plate of BBQ with a few side

  • Beer must be purchased with a ticket - $5 each

PeakFest - Town of Apex Arts and Crafts Festival

Celebrate the Peak of Good Living at PeakFest, each year on the first Saturday in May. Historical downtown Apex is transformed into a spectacular street fair, featuring the following:

 

  • Delicious festival food
  • Over 200 vendors with a wide variety of arts and crafts
  • Plenty of entertainment with stages with music and dance acts
  • Rides
  • Roving street performers

The festival is from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Salem Street in historic downtown Apex. It is free and open to the public.

Annual Christmas Parade in Downtown Apex

Start the day off from 8-11 AM with the annual Apex Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast at the Apex Downtown Fire House.

From 9AM - 2PM, Santa will be at the Apex Depot (Chamber of Commerce) for Pictures with Santa.  Tickets will be available starting at 8:30 AM. These tickets will be for one of the hourly time slots to help give people time to roam downtown and have a closer approximate time when to be in the actual picture line. It does help keep the line waiting time shorter.

The cost for the “Pictures with Santa” is $25.00 for a CD of about 12 to 15 pictures. 

Children are also able to sit & visit Santa for no cost, but pictures are not allowed to be taken.

The GRAND CHRISTMAS PARADE starts down Salem Street at 5:00 PM.   There's something pretty special about a night time parade.

Christmas on Salem Street

The Annual “Christmas on Salem Street” events begin at 5:00 PM on Friday December 1st with Christmas Carols at the Depot, followed by the Lighting of the Apex Christmas Tree. Then Santa & Mrs. Claus arrive on one of the Horse Drawn Carriages at the front of the Downtown Fire House between 5:45 and 6:00 PM.

Apex Music Festival (formerly Jazz Fest)

The 2017 Apex Music Festival (Formerly the Apex Jazz Music Festival) will continue its tradition of playing host to great musicians in and around the Triangle. The Beer & Wine Garden / Main Stage will operate again on the Apex Chamber of Commerce property, and feature phenomenal musical acts Performances will again be featured in a wide variety of outdoor and indoor venues along Salem St. in Downtown Apex.
