The shopkeepers home decorated for Christmas 2006.
As many of you know we moved into a farm house 6 miles outside of town (Apex, NC) in November, 2005. We have come to call our farm house “Twin Gables” as the house has two sets of identical gables that promently set the house apart from others in the area. Built in 1920 by Robert Duke and Clara Goodwin, the homestead was originally a part of over 375 acres in western Wake county bordering Chatham county. The Goodwin’s farmed tobacco, corn, cotton, hogs, cattle and kids with most of our neighbors relatives of the Goodwin clan. We are currently planning an extensive restoration to renovate the house to it’s original state. When the restoration is complete we plan to open the farm house, out buildings and grounds to our customers as the “American Country: LIVING Show Room”.
Twin Gables sits on just under an acre, will be an extension of The Rusty Bucket and will be a real LIVING Show Room where customers can schedule a walk through, participate in annual events on the property and dial into our web site for a live cam tour of how the Shopkeeper lives and decorates. So stay tuned for an “American Country: LIVING Show Room” sponsored by The Rusty Bucket. But in the mean time enjoy Twin Gables as it is today decorated for Christmas.
