THE RUSTY BUCKET Class Schedule
September-October 2010
The summer heat hasn’t gone anywhere but the classes are cool! It’s time to start thinking about fall classes even though we’re still having to endure the hot summer weather. Maybe if we all think FALL we can push the heat out of here! Just wishful thinking on my part!!!
Heather Chandler is going to teach a bag class. Heather is quite accomplished at making many different styles of bags so be sure to take advantage of her talents.
The trip to Oregon has come and gone so no more breaks!! Can’t wait to see all your summer accomplishments.
All models are available in my classroom for viewing or you may also see them on my web site at www.libertyrosepatterns.com . Visit the calendar section for a complete schedule of classes and photos. Just click on the class title in the calendar and it will take you to a description and photo of that class.
To sign up for a class you may contact Sharon Stewart at 779-7062 or email libertyrose2000@aol.com. To sign up for Heather’s classes you may contact her at 919-924-4338 or heather@mediasunshine.com .
Classes will continue to be held at Laura Suich’s house located at 612 W. Chatham Street, Apex or at my house (5928 Hampton Ridge Road, Raleigh 27603). I look forward to seeing you at either location.
Each class is one session except for the Snowman Wool Crazy classes. You will attend class on the date you choose. All supplies are provided at each class unless otherwise noted. However, if you have sewing supplies you prefer to use, feel free to bring them.
Many of the classes I offer extend over lunchtime. You are always welcome to bring a bag lunch to class as well as a drink. There is a refrigerator at either class location. And, as always, I’ll provide the chocolate!
WOOL DYING
Some of you have shown great curiosity about wool dying. Now is your chance to see how it’s done. I’ll explain exactly how the process works and you will then get a turn to dye ½ yard of wool to take home. Class size will be limited to four students and will be held at Sharon’s house. I apologize for these classes all being on weekdays but I simply ran out of weekends to teach. If you can’t make one of these classes, let me know you’re interested and I’ll offer the class again in November or December.
Class fee: $30.00
Dates: September 13 – 10am-1pm
September 24 – 10am-1pm
October 13 – 10am-1pm
SNOWMAN WOOL CRAZY
OK, wool crazy is running amuck in Raleigh! But so many of you were a bit intimidated by all the planning and embroidery stitches involved with the Wool Crazy block taught over the summer. I’ve created a new block that we can get done in time for winter decorating and maybe not so much stress. This piece is put together with lots of winter blues, reds and gray wools and covered with snowmen, snowflakes and even a smaller version of Holly girl. Rather than do a lot of the decorative embroidery stitches, I used a blanket stitch to anchor all the background pieces in place. And the background is more planned out for you so you don’t have to fret with that. So come join the wool crazy fun! Due to the amount of materials provided, all of these classes will be held at Sharon’s house. You will be attending two sessions for this project.
Class fee: $60.00
Dates: September 18 – 1-4pm and October 16 – 10am-1pm
September 28 – 10am-1pm and October 26 – 10am-1pm
October 9 – 3pm-6pm and November 6 – 10am-1pm
October 30 – 10am-1pm and December 4 – 10am-1pm
SUNFLOWER NEEDLEKEEP
Sunflowers are such a beautiful summer leading into fall flower. In this class you will complete the sweet sunflower needlekeep. This needlekeep is larger than most and has four “wool pages” inside to hold your pins and needles. I love using my needlekeep when I’m traveling. Great to take along to classes too! The front of the needlekeep has a large folk art sunflower and on the back there’s a buzzing bumblebee. There’s also a strand of decorative beads hanging from the outside edge of the needlekeep.

HALLOWEEN RECIPE BOOK
This is a class that I was trying to do last year but couldn’t get the book finished. So it became a goal to get it ready for this fall. So far everyone that has seen it has loved it! The book is so cool, so fun, full of great Halloween recipes. Lots of stamping and paper embellishments, beads, yarns and more. Once you complete all your pages, the book will be put together as a spiral bound book. This is going to be such a fun, different than the norm class.
Due to materials and space , this class will only be offered at Sharon’s house and will have 6 students per class.
Class fee: $35.00
Dates: September 4 – 10am-1pm
September 12 – 2pm-5pm (FULL)
September 20 – 11am-2pm

MAKE-UP JULY RECIPE CARD
Quite a few of you missed the July recipe card class. This card used the most stamps we’ve ever used and will not be reproduced by me for re-sale due to the time involved for each card. Thus the reason I’m offering a special class so you’ll have a chance to add this adorable (if I say so myself!) recipe card to your collection. The card features three strawberry dessert recipes. We’ve never had three recipes on one card!! Class will be limited to eight students.
Class Fee: $12.00
Date: October 19 – 6pm-8pm (Laura’s house)
RECIPE CARD BOX
We have several new people who have joined the recipe classes who don’t have a box to put their cards in. And a few of you who have filled up one box already! This class is for you. We will get a box covered and make the divider tabs to keep all your recipes organized.
Class Fee: $15.00
Date: October 19 – 6pm-8pm (Laura’s house)
As I promised last month, Heather Chandler is offering her Tulip Purse class during the fall session. The bag is adorable and I think would make a great sewing “purse” also. The perfect bag to tote all your pins and needles to class! You can contact Heather by calling 919-924-4338 or by email at heather@mediasunshine.com to sign up.
TULIP PURSE
The Tulip Purse is fun and easy to make, even for beginners! The bag features a “vintage” looking tulip shape and two interior pockets. Great for casual or a more dressed-up look, depending on the fabric you choose. People will wonder where you found such a smart and fashionable purse! The class requires a sewing machine and other supplies. The supply list will be provided after you sign up for the class.
Class Fee: $35.00 (includes complete pattern)
Dates: September 18 – 10am-1pm (Laura’s house)
October 16 – 10am-1pm (Laura’s house)
